New Member Guide: British Gymnastics Membership and Insurance

We are delighted to have you join us. As part of becoming a member of Wolds Gymnastics Club, there is one important step that all new members need to complete: registering with British Gymnastics.

Wolds Gymnastics Club is a British Gymnastics registered club, and all members, including recreational and non-competitive gymnasts, are required to have the appropriate British Gymnastics membership.

British Gymnastics membership provides a range of benefits and is also an important part of the insurance arrangements in place for members participating in recognised gymnastics activities.

Getting Started

Once you have joined Wolds Gymnastics Club, you will need to create a British Gymnastics account and register your gymnast.

The process is completed online through the British Gymnastics My BG system.

Step 1: Create Your My BG Account

Visit the British Gymnastics website and select the option to join or create an account.

You will be asked to provide details for the gymnast, including their full name, date of birth, address and relevant contact information.

If you are registering a child, make sure that the child’s personal details are entered correctly.

If you already have a British Gymnastics account because another child in your family is a member, you can usually add your new gymnast as a family member rather than creating a completely new account.

Step 2: Select the Appropriate Membership

During the registration process, you will be asked to select the appropriate British Gymnastics membership.

For our recreational members at Wolds Gymnastics Club, the appropriate membership will be the Community membership (This is for all of our gymnasts who train for 45 minutes - 1.5 hours per week).

If your child is joining one of our competitive squads who represent, we will let you know if a different membership category is required.

Step 3: Link Your Membership to Wolds Gymnastics Club

One of the most important parts of the registration process is making sure that your British Gymnastics membership is linked to us at Wolds Gymnastics Club or your insurance will be invalid if an injury occurs.

When prompted, search for: "Wolds Gymnastics Club". Select the correct club and continue with the registration.

Simply creating a British Gymnastics account is not enough. Your gymnast needs to be correctly registered with Wolds Gymnastics Club through their British Gymnastics membership.

If you have already purchased a British Gymnastics membership but have not linked it to Wolds, you can manage your club information through your My BG account.

Step 4: Complete Your Payment

Once you have entered the required information and selected the correct membership, you will be taken through the payment process.

Your British Gymnastics membership is separate from your normal Wolds Gymnastics Club membership fees and paid directly to British Gymnastics.

Step 5: Check Your Membership

Once registration is complete, we recommend logging back into your My BG account to check that everything has been set up correctly.

Please make sure that:

  • The gymnast’s name is spelt correct.

  • The date of birth is correct.

  • The British Gymnastics membership is active.

  • Wolds Gymnastics Club is showing as the gymnast’s club.

  • You have received confirmation of your membership via email.

You can also access your British Gymnastics digital membership information through your My BG account.

What About Insurance?

You do not need to purchase a separate gymnastics insurance policy yourself.

British Gymnastics membership includes access to insurance arrangements, subject to the terms, conditions and limitations of the relevant policies.

British Gymnastics states that its insurance arrangements provide cover for members, clubs, coaches and officials when participating in British Gymnastics recognised activities within British Gymnastics recognised environments.

This is why it is important that your gymnast has the correct British Gymnastics membership and is correctly linked to Wolds Gymnastics Club.

For full information about what is and is not covered, please refer to the British Gymnastics Insurance Centre: Visit the British Gymnastics Insurance Centre

What If I Have More Than One Child at Wolds?

If you have more than one child attending Wolds Gymnastics Club, you can manage their British Gymnastics memberships through your My BG account.

You can use the family member facility to add additional children to your account, meaning you do not need to create a completely separate parent account for each child.

Each child will still need their own appropriate British Gymnastics membership.

When Should I Complete This?

We ask all new members to complete their British Gymnastics registration as soon as possible after joining Wolds Gymnastics Club.

New participants may attend taster sessions before taking out British Gymnastics membership. Once you become a full member of Wolds Gymnastics Club, the appropriate British Gymnastics membership needs to be in place.

British Gymnastics memberships operate on a 12-month basis, with renewal arrangements based on the membership start date.

Need Help?

If you have any problems creating your account or completing your British Gymnastics membership, you can contact British Gymnastics directly through their Membership Helpdesk: British Gymnastics Membership Helpdesk

You can also contact Wolds Gymnastics Club if you are unsure which membership you require or need help understanding the process.

Welcome to Wolds Gymnastics Club
