Wolds Gymnastics Club enjoyed a highly successful weekend at the English Challenge & U12 FIG Championships, with gymnasts delivering confident performances, achieving strong results, and continuing their development on the national stage.
Competing against some of the strongest talent in the country, Wolds athletes demonstrated composure, consistency, and technical quality across all six apparatus - an encouraging reflection of the work being done within the club.

U12 FIG – Strong Start for Luis
The competition marked an important milestone for Luis, as he took to the floor for his first competition as an FIG gymnast.
Stepping up to this level is no small task, but Luis handled the occasion well, delivering a series of clean and controlled routines to finish 11th All-Around, alongside 6th on Pommel and 10th on Rings. His performance showed promising execution and a solid foundation to build from within the FIG pathway.
With this experience now under his belt, the focus quickly turns to progression. Luis will be looking to upgrade his routines ahead of the upcoming Pipers Vale Cup in just two weeks’ time - an exciting opportunity to build on this debut and continue developing at FIG level.

U12 Challenge – Strength and Composure
In the U12 Challenge, Wolds saw two standout performances.
Jack delivered an exceptional all-around performance to finish 4th, narrowly missing out on a podium place. His competition was highlighted by an outstanding routine on Parallel Bars, where he claimed 1st place. Parallel Bars were also his final piece of the competition, where he finished strongly to round off a consistent and composed set of routines across the day. Alongside this, he placed 6th on Rings, 10th on Vault, and 9th on High Bar. It was a performance that showcased both quality and competitive intent.
George also impressed, finishing 10th All-Around, while showing excellent composure throughout the competition. His calm and controlled approach across all apparatus translated into strong results, including 2nd on High Bar and 6th on Parallel Bars - a performance that highlights both his ability and growing confidence at this level.

U10 Challenge – All-Around Success
In the U10 category, Jimmy produced one of the standout performances of the weekend, securing 3rd All-Around against a highly competitive field.
His consistency across all apparatus was key, with additional top finishes including 3rd on Parallel Bars, 4th on Floor, 7th on Vault, and 9th on Pommel - a well-rounded performance that highlights his strength as an all-around gymnast. An exciting year for Jimmy’s development now awaits, as the focus shifts towards upgrading skills and preparing him for his first year as an U12 gymnast next season.

U9 Challenge – Strong Foundations
The club’s youngest competitors also represented Wolds with pride in the U9 Challenge.
Oscar finished 15th All-Around, with particularly strong routines earning 5th on Rings and 6th on Parallel Bars, demonstrating great promise for the future.
Arthur placed 29th All-Around, gaining valuable experience at a national competition -an important step in his development journey.
We’re really excited to see both Oscar and Arthur’s development over the next year, particularly over the next 5 months as they build towards their regional qualifiers in September. This period will be key for refining basics, improving consistency, and gaining confidence under pressure as they continue progressing through the pathway.
Building Momentum
Overall, the weekend reflected a positive trajectory for Wolds Gymnastics Club, with podium finishes, apparatus medals, and multiple top-10 results.
More importantly, it showcased a group of gymnasts continuing to develop, gain experience, and build confidence at a national level. With upcoming competitions on the horizon—including the Pipers Vale Cup & Challenge -the focus now shifts to refining routines, increasing difficulty, and building on this strong momentum.
A fantastic effort from all gymnasts and coaches involved.
